Guarana description
Guarana is a long, woody stalk or vine that attaches itself to and climbs up trees. The leaves are scattered all along its liana interspersed with pretty little yellow flowers in a cluster. The ripe, red colored fruits have the appearance of an eye, hence its name guarana which means "eye of the forest". These fruits contain a very white flesh and large seeds of round shape and of a very dark shiny brown color, of which the flavor is particular and slightly harsh.

Guarana originated in the Amazonian forests of Brazil, it spreads everywhere in Amazonas, in the region of Matos-Grosso and also in Bahia. Also found in Venezuela. It has a predilection for the undergrowth where it grows quietly deep in the forests.

Guarana contains a phenomenal amount of caffeine, which is why it is the plant with the highest concentration of caffeine in the world. But it has many other riches, saponosides and tannins with theobromine, xanthine, and theophylline.
Guarana also contains many vitamins, with vitamin A, vitamin B1 and vitamin B3, but also vitamin E and vitamin PP. There are also trace elements and more particularly selenium, germanium and strontium, but also mineral salts specific to this plant with calcium, potassium, as well as phosphorus and iron, copper, zinc and magnesium.
