Lutein and zeaxanthin

Dry extract of marigold flower, marigold (Tagetes erecta L.) dosed with lutein.
Dry extract of marigold flower, marigold (Tagetes erecta L.) dosed with zeaxanthin.

These are two pigments from the carotenoid family, which are found in very high concentrations in the central part of the retina of the eye, and exactly in the macula a yellow spot at the back of the eye.

Lutein and zeaxanthin have strong antioxidant properties and, moreover, they filter blue light, neutralizing some of the free radicals generated by the sun's rays. Two actions that help prevent retinal degeneration (or referred to as age-related macular degeneration (AMD)).

Family: Vitaceae

It is the oligo-proanthocyanidins (OPC) contained in the grape seed extracts of the red vine, which protect against eye glare, one of the symptoms of the dry form of age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

Beta-carotene (provitamin A)

Vitamin A contributes to the maintenance of normal vision.

Beta-carotene allows the human body to produce vitamin A, an oxidant that protects against free radicals. This very important vitamin A is consumed by nerve impulses conveyed by the optic nerve.

It is this same vitamin A, produced by transformation, which will act at the level of the retina to strengthen visual acuity and improve color perception. One of the symptoms of vitamin A deficiency is reduced night vision or night blindness.

Botanical name: Ribes nigrum
Family: Grossulariaceae

It is a source of vitamin C, polyphenols, flavonoids, and in particular anthocyanins (delphinidins and cyanidins) known for their effects on vision and visual fatigue.

Blackcurrant defends and protects the tissues of the eye against aggression, exposure to light (also that of television or computer screens!). Blackcurrant reduces visual fatigue, improves peripheral blood microcirculation of the eye and also night vision.

Acerola Vitamin C

Vitamin C helps reduce fatigue and protect cells against oxidative stress.

Botanical name: Malpighia glabra L.

Acerola is one of the richest fruits in vitamin C, and vitamin C is essential for protecting the retina and improving blood circulation to the eyes.

Vitamin C is in high concentrations in the lens. It protects it from the opacification that causes cataracts.

Acerola is also very rich in vitamin A as well as in bioflavonoids and minerals such as iron, calcium and especially magnesium.

Zinc

Zinc helps protect cells against oxidative stress and helps maintain normal vision.

Zinc helps reduce vision problems. It helps prevent and slow the onset of age-related macular degeneration.

Selenium Yeast

Selenium helps protect cells against oxidative stress.

Selenium yeast is the best source of dietary selenium.

Selenium is an essential anti-oxidant trace element (Like Vitamin E, which is very difficult to assimilate). In the form of selenium yeast, it is good for the eyes by protecting against age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

Selenium is also involved in the vision process by increasing sensitivity to light.
